Executive Search and Selection | Recruitment

Spring Newsletter

Message from Richard Evans, Chief Executive, April 2009

Article Posted: 15/04/2009

At CfA, it was “business as usual” during the G20 summit (we did join the rest of the City in dressing down, though!) Down at the Excel Centre the G20 leaders were working to lift the mood of economic depression. From our eyrie, on the 6th floor overlooking the newly-gilded Monument (do call in and have a look!), we can see that the charity and not-for-profit sectors have had their own specific problems in the economic crisis.

Part of our task here at CfA is to keep our clients and candidates up to date with what is happening in the marketplace. Our overall impression is that whilst certain income streams are being affected, there continues to be a sense of strength and commitment by charity leaders - CEOs, Trustees and staff.

The sector is playing an increasingly important role in society. The UK has one of the most respected charity / NFP sectors in the world. We recognise that both Boards and Executive teams need to refresh and increase their skills. There are many strategic issues and opportunities to be tackled. At CfA we have always attracted high calibre senior leaders to meet these needs.

Through our long term specialist interest and experience in the sector, we are able to meet these recruitment challenges efficiently. At a time when every charge on the budget has to be scrutinised, we believe that tailor-made recruitment remains a cost effective and efficient way to source the leaders for the future. At CfA we combine a strategic mix of head-hunting, networking and use of our extensive register of quality candidates, supported by advertised search and selection.

Many of you will have received and accepted our invitation to our forthcoming Annual Lecture and Reception and we look forward to seeing you there. The evening is always an effective networking occasion and this year the Lecture is being given by The Lord Speaker, the Rt Hon Baroness Hayman.

Our office is always open if you wish to come and discuss confidential business requirements and proposals for organisational development and recruitment.
